[3/31/16] Dontay Ivy Birthday Celebration & Community Party
On April 2nd, 2015, two days after his birthday, Donald “Dontay” Ivy was unconstitutionally stopped, detained, and killed by three Albany police officers. Dontay’s death has understandably devastated his entire family, and deeply impacted the surrounding community.
On March 31st, 2016—what would have been Dontay’s 40th birthday—family members and citizens alike will celebrate Dontay’s life, his memory, and his influence on those he left behind. Members of the community are encouraged to attend, reflect, and celebrate, as well as show support to Dontay’s surviving family. Event will be held at North Swan Street Park (43 N. Swan St., Albany), between 5:30pm and 8pm on Thursday, 3/31/16.
Specifically, members of Dontay’s immediate family—some of whom are children—have recently experienced financial hardships resulting in the loss of their home. The 3/31 party will be an opportunity for the community to raise funds in support of these individuals. Donations can also be made online via YouCaring.com/DontayIvy, or through the CAAMI donation page (write “c/o Dontay’s Fund” in the notes field).
You can also help by sharing this page and/or information related to Dontay’s party.
From the family, and CAAMI – THANK YOU!
